John Mutter is a director and composer working across video, music, photography, and interactive media.

His credits include work as a senior visual effects compositor for Disney, Marvel, and Netflix, directing short films and commercials, and directing content for Sub Pop Records. His work has earned Emmy nominations for visual effects, multiple Leo Award nominations for both visual effects and directing, and finalist recognition in the Canadian Songwriting Competition.

He has exhibited photo, video, and interactive works internationally in critically acclaimed solo and group shows, been shortlisted for PHNX, and published in multiple photography books.

He studied composition with Giorgio Magnanensi and Jon Siddall in Vancouver, and later with Benoit Delbecq in Paris on a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. He also studied visual art at the University of British Columbia and the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
